PIXEL86 offers a unique approach to photo editing, reminiscent of a vintage aesthetic. It provides a black and white image editing experience that harkens back to an era before the proliferation of modern apps.
The application generates monochromatic images where pixels are limited to black or white, creating a distinctive effect by carefully arranging these pixels to simulate varying shades. This technique, known as dithering, was commonly employed in the past for displaying images on screens with restricted color palettes. Notably, dithering is also utilized in GIF technology.
The app boasts three main editing styles:

<li>Natural: This mode employs the popular error diffusion algorithm, recognized for its widespread usage and set as the default setting.</li>
<li>Pattern: This algorithm mirrors the methods employed by traditional matrix printers. Users have the ability to adjust the matrix size for a customized editing experience.</li>
<li>Flat: While not a dithering algorithm, the flat editing style can yield impressive results, especially when working with video content.</li>
</ul>
